What is nutritional therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Registered Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health.
Who is nutritional therapy for?
Nutitional therapy is for anyone who would like to support their health through diet and lifestyle. Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.
What happens in a consultation?
During the first consultation at the Kate Knowler Nutrition Clinic we will spend time discussing your current symptoms and your previous medical history while also reviewing your diet and lifestyle. Based on the findings, we will compile a 30 day personalised nutrition and lifestyle programme together with you, and recommend any additional functional tests that may be beneficial for identifying underlying causes. If you have booked into our 3 month Wellbeing Clinic you will be given a food intolerance blood test kit at your first appointment to complete at home.
We consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. We never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. We will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided. This is included for free as part of our Wellbeing and Follow-Up Clinics.
Do all consultations need to be held in clinic?
Ideally, all appointments are held face to face at our Liverpool Street clinic in the heart of London. However, we understand that not all clients are able to attend an appointment in London due to location and/or work commitments, and we are able to offer a Skype option for those unable to attend an appointment in London.
